New Recruitment: Gökhan Depo to strengthen E2 Research’s team

Gökhan Depo, MA, a Fulbright scholar who lives in Oulu, joins E2 Research as a Project Assistant to work in research and development projects related to international talent in Finland. The aim of the projects is to support international talents’ career prospects and recruitment, networking, and participation in public discussion in Finland. Both projects are led by Research Director Mari K. Niemi.

Gökhan is a final year PhD student in the Organizational Leadership and Policy Development Program at the University of Minnesota. He has a Master of Arts in Education and Globalisation from the University of Oulu (2017) and a BA in Communication Design from Bahcesehir University, Turkey (2014). Between 2018 and 2021, Gökhan worked as a researcher at the Office for Public Engagement at the University of Minnesota.

What motivates me to work at E2 Research is the relevancy of the projects to my own experience and E2 Research’s steadfast commitment to deepening the integration of international talents and the Finnish society. I am excited to witness the impact of our work for the greater good of all stakeholders involved. It is a great privilege to join an enthusiastic and talented team that is dedicated to establishing deeper and more reciprocal partnerships with the community,” says Gökhan.

Gökhan’s area of specialization is higher education, within which his research focuses on university rankings. His experience in research coordination, communication, and stakeholder collaboration, as well as his expertise in researchers’ roles in societal service make him a great fit for our ongoing projects. This recruitment further strengthens E2 Research as a multidisciplinary research organisation. We are really excited to welcome Gökhan to work with us,” says Research Director Mari K. Niemi.

International Talent Finland research project focuses on improving talent attraction and retention in Finland, in collaboration with international talents as stakeholders. The project is supported by a large consortium, adding to the societal impact of the work. The second project BASE: Building Academics’ Societal Impact focusing on international academics’ networking and media visibility in Finland is funded by Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.

E2 Research is a politically independent, non-profit, multidisciplinary research institute based in Helsinki.
